Checking O365 Accounts for Malicious Rules

Sometimes when an Office 365 account is compromised, rules are put into place that move your inbound email from one folder to another. To you, it'll look like you're missing emails, when really these emails are being sent to a random folder without your knowledge. If you suspect that your account has been compromised, you'll need to check for and remove any rules that you didn't put into place.

  1. Go to the Outlook.com page. Enter your Office 365 email address, password and click Sign in (your GoDaddy username and password won't work here).
  2. In the top right corner of the page, select Settings > View all Outlook settings.
    Click on Settings then Mail
  3. Choose Mail from the left-hand column and then click Rules.
    Click Forwarding under Accounts
  4. Here you can see a list of rules, and delete any that you don't recognize.
